Can you imagine Tacoma without the Museum District?

Can you imagine Tacoma without the Museum District? Tell us how museums and libraries have impacted your life. We want to share your testimony with our legislators.

Museum of Glass is honored to be included in the incredible community of museums lining downtown Tacoma. As our colleagues at Seattle Art Museum recently wrote, “We believe museums matter – as spaces of dialogue, community connection, escape, and activism. We believe in truth. In inclusion. In history. In facts. We believe in public service.”

Recent Executive Orders have targeted cultural institutions like the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Smithsonian Institution, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, among others. These institutions, and those like them, are places of opportunity for people around the United States. Cultural institutions provide vital resources, spaces for continued learning, engaging programs, and so much more for the American people. The government’s decisions to cancel grants and disrupt the missions of federal cultural agencies will have a lasting impact on organizations of all sizes, and on the people who depend upon them to ignite creativity, fuel discovery, and enrich lives.

If cultural institutions have made a difference in your life, we want to hear from you. Whether you are local to Tacoma, the Pacific Northwest, or elsewhere, please feel welcome to share your experiences with us via email, in our Instagram comments, or below.
