The Teen Docent Program is an educational initiative at Museum of Glass for high school students designed to expose those of diverse backgrounds to the inner workings of a museum and provide them with valuable professional development opportunities.
Participants will be trained in the best practices of museum docent work, provided with in-depth information about each of the exhibitions currently on view in the galleries, and paired with docent mentors as they learn the skills needed to conduct exhibition tours for Museum of Glass visitors.
Teen Docent Program participants will:
Learn how to give professional tours at a museum
Discover behind-the-scenes details about how a museum operates
Cultivate critical thinking skills to engage with art exhibitions
Develop professional skills necessary in a variety of career types
Explore the connection between the arts and sciences through the Museum of Glass Hot Shop
