Wild Within: A Lens on Wolves

November 20, 2024 – January 5, 2025

Installation Overview

In conjunction with Field Notes: Artists Observe Nature, Museum of Glass has partnered with Wolf Haven International to display the Grand Hall installation Wild Within: A Lens on Wolves. This installation is a curated selection of professional photographs by Gelane Clements, Julie Lawrence, and Annie Musselman that showcases the beauty and significance of wolves. These photographs from Wolf Haven’s 40-year-old archive have not been exhibited in public.

In the spirit of Field Notes, the works reflect artists looking at nature to find inspiration. The installation also asks the viewer to reflect on the meaning of nature today. Do we want wolves to be part of nature for future generations? What is nature without wolves? And what will artists be inspired by in the Anthropocene, as nature is now increasingly shaped by human activity?

Wolf Haven is an internationally recognized wolf sanctuary that has rescued and provided a home for over 300 displaced captive born wolves since 1982 under the mission “to preserve and protect wolves and their habitats.” This collaboration aims to highlight a shared commitment to wildlife conservation and education at Museum of Glass and Wolf Haven International.
