Transparency: An LGBTQ+ Glass Art Exhibition
October 12, 2019 – September 5, 2021
Exhibition Overview
For Pride Month 2017, the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia presented the nation’s first museum exhibition of Studio Glass works produced exclusively by artists in the LGBTQ+ community. Now, the National Liberty Museum is partnering with Museum of Glass, Tacoma, Washington to share this exhibition with a broader audience and showcase the diverse subjects, methods, and styles explored by LGBTQ+ glass artists. Many of the selected works were created for this exhibition, and the result is a three-dimensional meditation on queer experience that is as multifaceted as the community from which it comes.
This exhibition includes works by Tamás Ábel, Nancy Callan, Joseph Cavalieri, Pearl Dick, Sarah Gilbert, Kim Harty, Joshua Hershman, Eric Hess, Niki Hildebrand, Carmichael Jones, Sabrina Knowles/Jenny Pohlman, Drew Mattei, Natalie Hope McDonald, Amanda Nardone, Ronnie Phillips, Brandon Robinson (Glass Munky), Joseph Sircoulomb, Tim Tate, Davis Thal, Wes Valdez, Jeff Zimmer, and Walter Zimmerman.
