Fire & Ice

Museum of Glass is celebrating its Third Annual Fire & Ice Festival this winter. Starting November 15, MOG will host a variety of Fire & Ice themed activities, performances, and demonstrations for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

November Third Thursday - November 16, 5-8PM

  • Still Life Sketching: What are you thankful for? Get into a thankful mood by drawing some of the things that make life great! Reflect and join Museum of Glass educators in making still-life drawings using provided materials or your own objects from home.
  • Hilltop in the Hot Shop: Students from Hilltop Artists in Residence will provide glassmaking demonstrations throughout the evening.
  • Holiday themed trivia in the Hot Shop.

  • Academy of Dance Nutcracker Performance in Grand Hall, 1-2 pm: Get into the holiday spirit with Academy of Dance as they perform selections from “The Nutcracker” in the Grand Hall!

November 25

  • Slumping Workshop, 11am-4pm. Create your very own glass bowl or dish during this fun workshop. With the help of Museum of Glass educators, you’ll create designs from sheets of glass, which we’ll heat up until they slump and drape over a mold. The result is a beautiful addition to your home! $29 non-member; $26 MOG member.

MOG & GROG - November 25, 4-7pm

  • Kick off the holiday shopping season at Museum of Glass on Small Business Saturday at a sip & shop event in support of local artists. MOG & GROG will put Tacoma artists center stage in our Grand Hall to display and sell glass art, jewelry, letterpress prints, ceramics, and more. Continue the festive shopping in the Museum Store, featuring works from artists throughout the state. Alegre Bakery & Gelato will help get you in the holiday spirit with tasty treats, hot cider, and specialty grog to enjoy during your visit. Enjoy free museum admission, classic holiday film screenings and hands on activities for all ages. Gift wrapping available! All participating artists receive 100% of the proceeds.

  • Paul and Phyllis Holiday Musicale Performance in the Grand Hall
  • Family Day Wrap Party, 1-4pm. It’s a wrap! Reflect on memories and challenges of 2017, transforming them into decorative wrapping paper, gift tags, and bags with art educator Jennifer Adams!
  • Fusing Workshop, 11am-4pm. Experience the challenge of crafting your own fused glass. You’ll cut and arrange pieces of glass to be heated up and melted together, creating your own distinctive pattern. Bring friends to share in the fun! $29 non-member; $26 MOG member.
