Glass Break: Collect 'em All
Afternoon speaker series

Thursday, March 22, 2018 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM

Glass Break is the new mid-day series of conversations with artists and thinkers, giving their insights into the works of art on view at Museum of Glass. Each conversation will look at the specific processes used to create the works of Albert Paley, Michael Taylor and Dale Chihuly, from how one creates distinct shapes in cold glass to the influence of the medium of glass in the art world.

These 30-minute talks are held every Thursday starting at noon in the MOG theater. Bring your own food, or grab a bite from Choripan, the museum café.

Admission is $5. Soft drinks, water, and cookies provided.

This week's lecture: Collect ‘em all

How does an individual or museum build an art collection? Get the inside scoop on what drives collectors. Featuring Museum of Glass Assistant Curator, Katie Buckingham.

Collecting art works is an individual passion, driven by individual choices. We will examine what matters most to the individual when collecting glass, as well as the collector's intent.

From the curator's viewpoint, we will examine the elements that inform the process of choice when collecting. We will discuss the issues of when the work was produced, the technical method used to create the work and other factors to consider as a collector.
