Description
The Hot Shop A/V Switcher is responsible for the audiovisual presentations in the Hot Shop as well as ensuring proper audiovisual equipment operation in the other areas of the Museum.
The Hot Shop Amphitheater allows visitors to watch live glassblowing. The audiovisual aspect of this presentation is a large projection screen and robotic cameras that allow a close-up view of the glassblowers' work. The Hot Shop A/V Switcher is responsible for running the Hot Shop audiovisual program, which includes robotic cameras, a VT5 video editing/switching computer application, and working with the staff to provide a seamless visitor experience in the Hot Shop. Other responsibilities include setup and breakdown of all lectures in the Theater, graphics and character generation, and may include video editing, encoding and video shooting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee operation of robotic cameras in the Hot Shop during Museum hours and after hours as assigned
- Operate a “Video Toaster 5” switching system
- Create graphics and video for presentation in the Hot Shop
- Monitor Theater and Grand Hall video feeds
- Perform setup and breakdown for all lectures in Theater
Minimum Qualifications
- Self-starter with ability to maintain focus and attention to detail
- Experience with Windows XP and related PC applications
- Experience with and knowledge of Photoshop CS, computer graphics and video effects
- Knowledge of video equipment (VCR, DVD) and comprehension of video signal routing concepts
- Ability to learn new software quickly and good troubleshooting skills
- Experience capturing, encoding and converting digital video in multiple formats
- Knowledge of NLEs and digital video production techniques
- Experience with live technical production (technical theater, television broadcast) helpful, but not required
Special Conditions
This position is part-time with hours to be determined. Evening and weekend hours are often required.
