Our Kids Design Glass Program invites children 12 and under to stretch their imaginations and create original designs based on the artwork displayed at the Museum. The whimsical designs kids create stretch the talents of our highly-skilled glassblowing team—and they love the challenge! One entry is selected to be interpreted into glass by the Hot Shop Team each month. Two sculptures are created—one for the designer to take home and one for the Museum’s Kids Design Glass Collection.

Draw your idea…
for something you’d like to see made out of glass. You can use crayons, markers, paint, collage, etc., and the design is totally up to you—have fun and be creative! Then turn it in with your entry form (entries must be submitted in person with a completed entry form available in the Education Studio).

Watch us make your design in glass…
If we choose your design, we’ll call and invite you and your family to come to the Museum (for FREE). You’ll get to sit in the front row in the Hot Shop and direct the Team as they make your sculpture exactly how you designed it.
Take your sculpture home…
The Hot Shop Teams makes TWO sculptures of your design—one for you to take home and one for our Kids Design Glass collection. When you come back to the Museum on a later visit, you may see your design on display for all Museum visitors to enjoy!
The Exhibition
We love this program so much we created an exhibition of the first 52 creatures made between 2005 and 2009. The show included the original glass sculptures, the kids' designs and photographs documenting the process. Check it out »
