MOTHERS DAY 2013
The Tacoma Museum District celebrates all mothers this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 15. Free admission will be offered to moms at Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum. Special events are also planned to celebrate mothers.
Visit the Museum of Glass and participate in a special Mom and Me fusing workshop and work together to make a unique piece of art just for moms. Adding some special music to the day, the Auburn Harp Ensemble will perform at 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall. Glass flowers created by the Hot Shop Team will be given away to several lucky moms during the day. The Museum Store will offer 20% off for Members and 15% off for non-Members on all jewelry and select merchandise.
Mom and Me: Fusing Workshops
Sunday, May 12, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Using colorful glass shards, stringers, and frit, visitors will create one-of-a-kind glass tiles that can be used for a coaster or two glass pendants/magnets. Workshops start on the hour (45 minute duration); the last session begins 4 p.m. Cost: $38/$32 members (price does not include Museum admission. Suitable for ages 6 to adult.
