Mel George’s Process Video

By Justin Kuravackal, September 4, 2007 | Video; George, Mel

Mel’s work this week was largely about memories of Australia. Currently a Portland resident, she misses many things about her home country. In this video you’ll see her working with our team to make one of a series of simplified tree forms. Several of these were quite large, and the one in the video is tiny. The varied colors of the series all come from the Australian landscape, eucalyptus, grasses, etc. Mel carves in a “string” into each much like a string you might tie around your finger in order to not forget something.
