Greg Dietrich’s Process Video

By Justin Kuravackal, June 22, 2007 | Video; Dietrich, Greg

Wow, qué padre, Greg’s engraving work is really remarkable. He’s been engraving on the Hot Shop floor as well as assisting and directing as our team blows the engraved graals (thick multi-layered cups) into vessels. If you can, make it down here this weekend, Greg’s engraving the “Tacoma Extrazaganza” a cobalt blue and white piece featuring the cone, T-Dome, Union Station and other T-Town landmarks. He’ll probably finish engraving tomorrow and we’ll make the piece on Sunday for the residency’s grand finale.

Here’s a short video of the process from making the graal, then engraving to blowing the final form.

Looks like you had a great time there Greg. Wish I could have stuck around to see it. I like the clear octopus bottle, looking forward to more pictures of the finished pieces.
