MOG Blogs Visiting Artists

day 4

By Greg Dietrich, June 24, 2007 | Dietrich, Greg

OK, so the octopus bottle shrank 35% in the annealer, it’s still awesome. Today we mastered the “slash” series, where I engrave slashes through the outer layer of the graal, then blow them into BIG tapered cylinders. Can’t wait to see them out of the annealer.

Day 5 is Sunday, and the last day. I am going to challenge the gaffers with a surprise idea. I need a “tip jar” for a Bob Marley beach bar in Cozumel, should be fun. Then in the afternoon, we blow out the last two graals. First a turtle piece, then to finish my week with them, we are going to blow out the “Tacoma Extravaganza”. This is a graal that I have been engraving on all week that features some of the landmarks of the Tacoma/Museum of Glass area. Great way to finish the residency. If possible, join us Sunday, 12-5pm, it’ll be good.
