Museum of Glass Presents 5th Annual Bird Lovers’ Weekend, October 3 - 5, 2008
Join us for our 5th Annual Bird Lovers’ Weekend! This year’s event presents the U.S. debut of the newest iittala birds, Cartoon Chicks, designed by Anu Penttinen. Anu will join master glassblower Arto Lahtinen in making both Toikka- and Penttinen-designed birds in the Hot Shop, including the creation of a brand new Penttinen bird to commemorate the Museum’s 5-year partnership with iittala, Inc.
The weekend also features the 2008 limited-edition Ruffed Grouse, designed specifically for the Museum of Glass by acclaimed iittala designer Oiva Toikka. Professor Toikka designed the bird during his 2007 Visiting Artist residency in the MOG Hot Shop. Ruffed Grouse will be introduced in the Museum Store beginning October 3.

Additional bird lovers’ activities are scheduled throughout the weekend, including special bird-themed family activities, discussions led by Penttinen and Mirrored Murrelets artist Joseph Rossano, and a FREE reception in the Museum Store Friday evening.
