Nominations to the Council

Would you like to expand your involvement as a docent? The mission of the Docent Council is to provide quality volunteer services to the staff and board of the Museum of Glass and to assure a quality experience for each docent. Spring is the time of year we recruit new members for nomination to the Docent Council. Annual elections occur in June for 3-year terms that begin in July. Currently the Coundil has 8 members. If you have been a docent for six months or more and are interested in joining the Council, please contact the chair of the Nominating Committee, Elizabeth Breen.

Meeting Time

The Council, joined by Education staff members, meets on the second Thursday of the month from 5-6pm (excluding August and December) in the museum Board Room. All docents are invited to attend meetings.

Education Committee

Some of the most important work of the Docent Council happens through the Education Committee. It focuses on continuing education for docents and also prepares the monthly Bits of Frit newsletter. The committee chair, Annette Holzworth, and newsletter editor, Barb White, have worked hard to bring you quality articles and bits of information on individual artists, art history, and interviews with various staff members at the Museum. The Docent Council recently decided to issue Bits of Frit on a quarterly basis–rather than monthly–to reduce the workload for our dedicated volunteers. This decision also recognizes the maturing and changing focus of the Museum, and the quality information staff provides to docents. In addition, Barb White is working with staff to create an on-line blog for docents, which incorporates portions of the newsletter.

Do you have any ideas for articles and information in the newsletter? Just contact Barb White or Annette Holzworth. They will welcome your help and brainpower!!
