Ghouly Grouting Day: A Photo Essay
On October 26th, docents and their guests gathered together in the Ed. Studio for a grouting session.
Project at hand: Mirror mosaics created by docents at the summer Docent Party under the expert guidance of Ed. Studio Artist, Betty Rosen Ziff.
Step one in the process was mixing the grout. But first everyone donned gloves and grabbed plastic trash bag tablecloths as a tremendous grouty mess was anticipated.
Recipe for successful grouting: Water for mixing and cleaning and lots of sanded grout in various colors…
precise measuring…
and vigorous mixing.
After much work, the “go ahead and grout” sign was given!
And they’re off. The Ghouly Grouting Party had begun.
After great fun, sweet snacks, and a tremendous grouty mess, docents took the opportunity to say goodbye to their fearless leader, Meredith Hale, by presenting her with gifts from the Museum of Glass Docent Council and the Museum of Glass Docent Association.
It cannot be denied that Meredith will be greatly missed by all the docents, with or without her grouty gloves and fancy ribbon hats.
And although we will miss her, we also look forward to welcoming Ryan Branchini as the new fearless leader. So let this day be remembered as both a sad farewell and a hearty congratulations as we look back at all the good times and “jobs well done” in the past and look forward to good times and “jobs well done” in the future!
