Education Committee: Chaired by Annette Holzworth

The Education Committee met on October 7th and discussed the following agenda items:

1. Preschool tours will be publicized on the Museum’s website, in a future press release and flyers will be available at Back to School Night. Ideas for using the Morris exhibit with young children will be made available to gallery docents with the focus on artifacts and cave paintings.

2. A docent-led discussion of the Stankard/Moore exhibitions will follow the gallery walk-through in the Docent Room.

The school group curriculum for the new exhibits is available in the docent room. Teachers often use the curriculum prior to the class’ visit and it tells us what concepts may have been discussed. Even if no preparation has been done, the ideas in the curriculum can be part of our tour talk.

3. Family Guide – possibilities were discussed, and plans will be finalized after seeing the new exhibits and talking with the Education Department.
