Tacoma, Wash. (August 3, 2007)—The Museum of Glass welcomed its one millionth visitor this morning at 11:30 a.m.  Debbie DuPuy of Seattle was the honored guest.  She was accompanied by two out-of-town friends, Nancy Willke and Linda Siebe, both of Columbus, Ohio.  This was the first visit to the Museum by all three women.

The party was greeted at the Museum’s entrance by trumpet fanfare and a gathering of cheering staff members and docents.  Director Timothy Close officially welcomed the group to the Museum and escorted them to the Hot Shop floor where he presented DuPuy with a gift bag of commemorative gifts including a one-year Museum membership, a gift of glass made in the Hot Shop, Museum of Glass memorabilia and a $100 gift certificate to El Gaucho Restaurant.  Willke and Siebe also received gifts of glass and Museum of Glass T-shirts.  Close then provided a private tour for the group, including a behind-the-scenes look at the Hot Shop glass studio.

The Museum of Glass is currently celebrating its Fifth Anniversary.
