Tacoma, Wash. (March 7, 2007)—The Museum of Glass and Tacoma Art Museum are partnering to host Hot Shop Runway, a spring fashion show presented by Nordstrom. On Tuesday, March 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Museum of Glass Hot Shop will be transformed into a runway where stunning models will flaunt a selection of the hottest trends in men’s and women’s fashion from Nordstrom’s spring collection. A glass garden of towering bamboo created by Seattle artist Jean-Pierre Canlis will adorn the venue.

“We are delighted to stage a Nordstrom fashion show in the Hot Shop again this year,” commented Tim Close, executive director of the Museum of Glass. “The fiery atmosphere of the Hot Shop creates the perfect backdrop for this exhilarating event. It is a pleasure to join with Tacoma Art Museum to host the show.”

Over the past few years, Nordstrom has produced the fashion show at either the Tacoma Art Museum or the Museum of Glass as a philanthropic venture. This is the first year that the event will benefit both institutions.

“We partner with our neighbor, Museum of Glass, on many levels,” said Stephanie Stebich, director of Tacoma Art Museum. “This event gives people a fun, chic way to celebrate both institutions and our spirit of collaboration. After all, fashion is art too. The continued support from Nordstrom and willingness to put a new spin on an event that has gained a following over the past few years is just the kind of public-private partnership that has resulted in a strong and vibrant downtown Tacoma.”

Tickets are $90 each or $75 for Museum of Glass and Tacoma Art Museum members. In addition to the show, guests will sip champagne—or signature cocktails concocted by the Monsoon Room staff—and sample hors d’oeuvres and Italian sodas by Gallucci’s Catering. Tickets may be purchased by calling 253/284-4708 or emailing njohnson@museumofglass.org.

This benefit for the Museum of Glass and Tacoma Art Museum is presented by Nordstrom and sponsored by Lexus of Tacoma. Additional support is provided by AA Party Rentals-Tacoma, Alaska Distributors, Inc., Cascade Print Media, Click! Network, Tacoma Power, Gallucci’s Catering and the Monsoon Room.
